Our wire tensioning winders are designed to tension runs of straining wire. They are typically used on metal or angle iron posts. The green winder is used with our chain-link fencing post system and our Post System for Fencing. Although sufficient winders are supplied with our End Posts, Corner Posts, Two-way Straining Posts, the winders and brackets can also be bought separately.

  • Material: Mild steel.

Is this tensioner the ratchet type?

Thank you for your e-mail.

The tensioner is a barrel winder. It is bolted onto the post, the line wire is then fed through a hole on the barrel. You then use a spanner to turn the barrel, and as the line wire wraps around the barrel it tensions the wire.

It is not a separate ratchet tool for tensioning the wire, it is a fitting to be fixed onto the post.

Hi I need a roll of 6' chain link fence, with the fitting kit do the eye bolts have double ends so they can be used either side of a wooden post? Do you do the winders for tensioning the wire?

Many thanks for the enquiry.

We can supply loop nuts to screw onto the thread of the eyebolts. Usually with wooden posts you would use the eye-bolt to tension the wire, however we do supply a galvanized winder.
