I have a garden which is fenced off by conifer hedges. I'm wanting to add some low level mesh fencing to one side to prevent our dog from escaping to the other side.

Thank you for the e-mail.

Our chicken wire netting is a lightweight fencing option, and customers have used this type of mesh to fence off gaps at the bottom of a hedge. Chicken wire tends to be used where the mesh is intended primarily as a deterrent to the dog. The advantage of chicken wire netting is that it is quite flexible, and so can be moulded to the shape of the hedge. We offer a green PVC coated chicken wire netting in a 500mm wide roll.

However, if your dog is likely to aggressively try to break through the mesh, then you may require something more rigid such as a welded mesh. This will not be as flexible as chicken wire netting, but will be a stronger mesh.

In terms of pinning the mesh to the ground, we offer ground pegs. In terms of fixing the mesh into place, customers tend to source small wooden stakes and then staple the mesh directly onto the stake. Alternatively, some customers have used a thin tie wire to wire the mesh directly onto the branches of the hedge.

Could you tell me what is needed to fix the border fencing into the ground?

Many thanks

Dear Annie,

Our arch top fencing has prongs at the bottom of the roll that can be pushed into the ground. If you would like to secure the fencing to the ground more firmly then you can also use some galvanized ground pegs.

In order to support the fence, you will require a post or stake every couple of metres.

please confirm the thickness of the ground pegs?

Thank you for your enquiry.

The 300mm pegs are approx. 6mm in diameter.

Delivery Information

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

We are processing and dispatching orders as normal, and orders are usually dispatched either the same day or the next Working Day. Due to high pressures on all courier networks, some delays and split deliveries may be possible (please allow up to 2 Working Days for Express Deliveries and up to 4 Working Days for Standard Deliveries, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays). A slightly longer lead time may apply to certain postcodes, but this will be made clear in the Delivery Options at the Checkout.

Having anticipated short supplies of goods at the beginning of the year, we have filled our warehouse with stock. Whilst a certain product may be out of stock on our website, we will have an alternative option available which will be in stock – please feel free to ask our live chat agents for alternatives if you cannot find a suitable product for your application.

We may find that over the next few days or weeks that the speed of service we take pride in providing may be delayed slightly, either due to the requirement for staff members to self-isolate, or due to the pressures on the courier networks. Should this issue arise, we will do our very best to keep you fully informed, and rest assured that we will do everything possible to dispatch and deliver your order. If we could ask that you bear with us that would be very much appreciated, especially in the case of potential delivery issues. Some delivery delays may be unavoidable, as all UK courier networks are at full capacity due to  unprecedented levels of deliveries, combined with a potential shortage of drivers due to self-isolation requirements.
