Our green PVC coated chicken wire netting has a fully galvanized steel core wire under the coating, and is sourced from high quality manufacturers.
The green PVC finish transforms the chicken wire netting into an attractive and inconspicuous fencing for your garden.
Chicken wire netting has a hexagonal hole, and is an excellent choice for light-weight fencing options including boundary fencing, small animal enclosures such as chicken pens, and general garden use. The 13mm hole is ideal for keeping out wild birds, and for fruit cages.
If you are looking to fox-proof your enclosure then you should select our fox protection mesh.
All measurements +/- 15%. If you require a micrometer reading of the wire thickness then please call us on 01782 820 970.
I am wanting to erect a large fruit cage. Can bumblebees fit through these holes?
Thank you for your enquiry. Whilst we are not bumble bee experts, the 13mm wire netting may be quite tight for larger bumble bees, although I suspect that the smaller worker bees may fit through the holes. Other types of smaller pollinating bees should fit through without difficulty. The other thing to bear in mind is that with wire netting, the 13mm measurement is the vertical measurement on the hole, the hole is slightly wider than this on the horizontal.
The 13mm hole size is the most common size for fruit cages, and if the hole is much bigger than this then the wild birds will be able to fit through. One other option to consider would be our black plastic high tensile anti-bird netting, as this has a slightly larger hole at 18mm x 15mm. Whilst this plastic netting is very strong, it is also very flexible, and so it may need the support of tensioned line wire or a framework to provide the structure.
I am making an enclosure around my chicken house to protect hens from foxes and to keep wild birds out.
To keep wild birds out I was thinking about getting the chicken mesh that is 13mm wide, is that fox proof?
Thanks
Dear Mrs Killick,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The chicken wire netting is not suitable for fox protection. However the 13mm x 13mm 16 gauge welded mesh will provide you with fox protection.
Hello,
I'm thinking of buying some sort of mesh to stop my rabbits digging out of their runs and wondering if this would be suitable please? Thanks
Thank you for your enquiry.
Normally you would use the 31mm rabbit netting (this is also available in green) as the 13mm green wire netting is to thin a wire for rabbits and they may be able to chew through it.
Thank-you for you kind assistance. Wonderful service.
